                  Celebrating Freedom and Patriotism The day of 15th August was filled with joyous and overwhelming experiences. It was a day worth remembering.  On the 15th of August every year, India celebrates its independence from the British Empire. Every year, volunteers of AASRA go to their respective workplaces and celebrate with the children there, marking the spirit of independence. Like every year, this year's Independence Day programme went really well too, with a number of tiny tots making merry by inculcating the sense of patriotism and celebrating Independent India.  In Sector 2, interesting competitions and motivational talks were organized, aiming for a holistic development of the children. PMKVY for the win,again!

PMKVY for the win, again! AASRA, the social service wing of NITR has been working for years for the upliftment of the underprivileged in Rourkela. Our volunteers go around Rourkela and teach these underprivileged children. Everything was going well, but we observed that many of these kids gave up their studies after 12 th and looked for petty jobs due to many unheard reasons. This is when we realized that success wasn’t only about classroom scoring. Thanks to Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) program which gave us an opportunity to help them come out of their plight.       PMKVY being the world’s biggest skill development program with well maintained library and practical equipment sets an example for a well-planned curriculum. Holi 2018, The AASRA Way

Blissful cheers, along with holi colors were present in all workplaces where tall AASRA’S flagpoles stood. An aura of warmth and love emanated from them as day count to the occasion swiftly approached to minimal. Like every year this year too, the very much awaited joyous festival Holi was celebrated by AASRITES amidst the innocent young souls with enthusiasm much more than ever. Morning of the  2nd of March  aroused Holi vibes in AASRA folks and thus began their prep to head off to their respective workplaces. AASRA, which is a social service organization run by the students of NIT Rourkela, strives hard for the betterment and overall development of destitutes in several areas in Rourkela; namely Sector 2, Sector 5, Sector 6, Sector 21, Jagda,  Khalsa,  OSAP,  Birsa Munda and Chhend. Foundation Day 2018

     13th Foundation Day           When the nation celebrates its 69th Republic day and air is filled with Deshbhakti Slogans and fragrance of love for nation, there's another side to      this where AASRA celebrates its 13th Foundation Day. This year, our celebrations were a little new, a little different. We went Live on YouTube and Facebook! Here's how we celebrate it each year: Children from different workplaces come to NITR and show their talents in form of music, dance and drama at Bhubaneswar Behera Auditorium (BBA). Proceedings of this year's Foundation Day: Children reached NITR by 9:00 A.M, had a tummy full of delicious breakfast at Community Centre(CC) and came to BBA around 10:15 A.M.
