Celebrating Freedom and Patriotism

                  Celebrating Freedom and Patriotism

The day of 15th August was filled with joyous and overwhelming experiences. It was a day worth remembering.

On the 15th of August every year, India celebrates its independence from the British Empire. Every year, volunteers of AASRA go to their respective workplaces and celebrate with the children there, marking the spirit of independence. Like every year, this year's Independence Day programme went really well too, with a number of tiny tots making merry by inculcating the sense of patriotism and celebrating Independent India.

In Sector 2, interesting competitions and motivational talks were organized, aiming for a holistic development of the children. The programme started well with a drawing competition being organized, giving an opportunity to the young artists to showcase their talents. Young orators astounded the audiences with their wonderful speeches and left everyone spellbound. Then came the school choir who presented a very melodious patriotic number. The dance programme was quite fantastic. It stole the show as well as all the audience members' hearts. Finally, the programme came to an end with sweets and chocolates being distributed to the little children.

In Jagda, Illuminate India group installed one computer on August 15 at 5 pm. They conducted a small quiz for the children too. Prof. Acharya and Prof. R.K.Biswal from NIT Rourkela, along with members of Illuminate India talked about the importance of computer education. Later, children painted on MS Paint too!
