LITTLE SMILES AWAIT YOU, SO WHY DELAY...


THE WORLD IS SO BIG, STILL MANY PEOPLE CRY FOR SHELTER

BUT THEY CANT SHOUT, ONLY MURMER AND UTTER.

DO THEY GET A MEAL IN A DAY, WE ARE UNKNOWN

THEY HAVE TO WELCOME A FRUSTRATED LIFE WHEN THE DAY DAWN

TEARS DROPPING FROM THEIR EYES, SMILE IN THEIR DREAMS, IN FRONT THE FOGGY FUTURE LIES,

DROWNING IN SORROW, TO CROSS THE OCEAN OF LIFE, FOR A HELPING HAND THE HEART CRIES.

WE ALL, CHILDREN OF THE MOTHER EARTH, STILL SO MUCH DISCRIMINATION

OUR LIFE WRAPPED WITH GOLDEN SHEET, WITH THEM NO INTERACTION.

COME OUT OF THE DARK, LIGHT UP YOUR LIFE, DONT LET IT DRIFT AWAY,

THERE IS MUCH THAT MUST BE DONE EACH MINUTE OF EACH DAY.

WHY HAVE EYES THAT DO NOT SEE, EARS THAT DO NOT HEAR,

A HAND THAT CAN NOT HELP OR A HEART THAT CAN NOT CHEER?

ALL THEY NEED YOU, YOUR LOVING HEART THAT CAN INTENSELY FEEL,

THERE IS NOTHING SO TERRIBLE ON THIS EARTH THAT LOVE CAN NOT HEAL.

LIFE IS A GIFT, IT HAS SO MUCH TO OFFER

SEE, WHAT YOU HAVE GOT, A FULL SPAN YET JUST HALF A COFFER!

BUT HAPPINESS SHARED WILL SEE OURS TO THE BRINK,

THE MORE WE GIVE, THE LESS IT WILL SHRINK.

AS CLOUD SAIL THROUGH THE BREATH TAKING SKIES;

WE REALISE NOT, BUT TIME REALLY FLIES.

FOR BEFORE REALISATION DAWNS, IT WILL BE TIME TO GO

AND WHEN THIS BODY IS GONE, WHAT WILL BE THERE TO SHOW!

NOT WEALTH, POSITION, NAME OR FAME, BUT ONLY

GOOD DEEDS OF OURS TO LIVE IN THE HEARTS OF MANY...

Lighting Lives, Making a Difference: Diya Project 2k17

New clothes, sweets, crackers. Diwali is a time of joy and celebration. But there are many who aren't fortunate enough. For the poor, buying things during festivals can be nothing but a far fetched dream. We at AASRA believe that there's no greater joy than the joy of serving the poor and the less fortunate ones. Each year, we create employment opportunities for dozens of poor women during Diwali, so that they have enough money to celebrate the festival of lights with their families. DIYA PROJECT is our greatest and most awaited project every year, for which every volunteer of AASRA puts in a lot of effort (and love). We buy diyas from a wholesale seller, and buy decorative items such as glitter powder, paints etc. We go to three workplaces and ask the women there to decorate these Diyas for us. Our volunteers roam around the campus of NITR, visiting faculty and students and taking orders for diyas from them. These decorated diyas are sold for a profit, and the profits are g...

What they feel about us. I've translated the above from Oriya to English for your easier understanding of it.                   " My self Durga Hansdah. i am in class 9th. I stay in Rourkela sishubhawan. My parents are not alive, I'm an orphan. Here all of us stay together, happily. NIT brothers and sisters come three days in a week. They teach us on Wednesday and Saturday. On Sundays, we play, sing, dance and have a lot of fun together. They visit us in the evenings, from 5 pm to 8 pm. One thing I feel that I always miss my Papa and this is the reason, maximum time i sit alone and remain silent.. When Didis and Bhaiyas come from NIT, I feel like my parents are with me and I forget everything. It makes me really happy. They also come in festivals like Rakhi and Ganesh puja. I dont have sister, but Didis have never given us a chance to feel it. They celebrate our birth days ...
